Tweaked my knee while shaking my butt...go figure, right? But this knee sleeve helps with the pain while at work & in the gym.
During all the years of weight lifting, running, and other various athletic activities including being in the Navy, I never had a knee injury beyond a spell of bursitis while in A-school. And then, one night several months ago while shaking my butt in Brazilian dance class, I pivoted and tweaked my left knee. Holy crap, it hurt!!! I immediately stopped with the butt shaking and came home and iced it down then wrapped it. Couple days later, it was fine. Or so I thought.Since then, if I run or do the Gauntlet (the stair climbing version of the treadmill), or go to Brazilian dance, it starts to hurt again. Worse than it did the first time. It also hurts if I sit cross-legged, or keep it bent while I'm asleep. It has begun to hurt while I'm at work on my feet all day, sometimes going up and down a 14' ladder. I have the old-school neoprene knee brace the Navy gave me during that spell of bursitis way back when, but while it gives some support it actually hurts more than it helps. This knee sleeve is much better. It provides support without constriction, and just the right amount of compression to help with the swelling and subsequent pain. I can wear it to the gym as well as to work, since it's not bulky under my leggings or jeans. I should add that I did as instructed and measured the circumference of my knee to determine the right size for me. My knee is 15 1/2" around at the center, which means I should have gotten it in size large, but I got a medium instead, knowing the material would stretch with time and use. That was a good call, because the medium fits just right. I think the large would have been too big. So I suggest measuring your knee, and if you fall on the low side of the size range, go down one. When it comes to compression sleeves, snug is better than loose.I've read a few of the other reviews, and I have to say...I don't see how anyone can complain about this brace "rolling down." Look at the picture of the product, see that darker grey stripe that runs from top to bottom along the side? It's on both sides, and what it is is a strip of flexible, plastic boning encased in the material. Similar to the "bone" that is used in corsets, these provide rigidity while still having bend right at the knee joint itself. And that rigidity makes it near impossible for this brace to roll down, especially since it goes all the way up, with maybe a quarter-inch of material at the top. So I have no idea what knee sleeve those reviewers were reviewing, but it's not this one. Now, this is not a patellar band. So if you have knee problems due to a patella (knee cap) that doesn't track correctly, or tendinitis of the patella, this might not be the right brace for you, as it does not place pressure directly on the patella or its tendons. It provides an all-over support and compression of the knee joint. It reduces and/or limits swelling in and/or around the joint, which in turn helps reduce the pain brought on by the swelling. As for all the special bamboo charcoal and germanium fibers...I dunno. I just know my knee feels better in this sleeve while I'm at work or working out. Of course, the real test will be how it holds up while I'm shaking my butt in Brazilian dance class, but my doctor told me to hold off on going back to that until after I've had an MRI, which is scheduled for next week, just to be sure I didn't tear the meniscus. While walking, running, and doing the stairs have your knees moving through the sagital plane, pivoting and/or lateral (side to side) movements have you working in the transverse or frontal planes and can cause more damage and tearing of the meniscus, which may require surgery to fix. So for now, this knee sleeve and I are good to go for work, including up and down the stupid ladder, and for my usual workout of running, Gaunlet, free weights, and yoga...but butt shaking in Brazilian dance is on hold. Of course I'm hoping I didn't tear any ligaments or the meniscus, and I'm REALLY hoping I don't have to have knee surgery anytime soon. But if I do, I'm sure I'll be wearing this knee sleeve after it, to reduce swelling and help with healing.

Very comfortable and soothing
I have a variety of knee braces for my VERY arthritic knees, and this one is really a nice one. It gives the feeling of softness, soothing, and warmth - but not heat . . . If that makes any sense. It's soft warm and comfy on my sore achy knees. Now if you're looking for compression, be aware, the size chart on this isn't acurate - you might want to stick with the size you'd normally get because if you order according to their chart, you'll end up with something way too big. I would normally get a medium, but this had me in the XL category! I didn't think so - I've been through that before!I really like the FIR type knee braces, and found this to be the best of the few I've ordered. This is one I would definitely order again w/o question! It's been my experience through years of trial and error, that their are a couple of brands I'd buy, and the rest of the ones I've tried - fegetaboutit!!! It's just not worth it. I was SO excited after watching the Tommy Copper infomercial! Wow! At long last, there might be something out there I can use, so I can delay having stem cell therapy in my knees - because I can't have "traditional" knee replacement surgery, and stem cell therapy is about $7,000 per knee! Boy was I disappointed when I shelled out all the money for two of their knee compression sleeves, and they didn't do a dog gone thing for me! Bummer! Lesson learned - but when you live with chronic pain you're willing to try just about anything! The other good ones I use regularly are FLA Orthopedics - I don't think they're FIR, but they are pretty good for stability. All of this said, keep in mind I am not on my feet a lot because I have spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, and psoriatic arthritis as well. So if you need something to get you through 8 hours on your feet, I don't know how well these will work for you, but it might be worth a try!I highly recommend!

Huge relief!
I pulled something a few days ago above, behind my left knee--no actual incident. But I have to really concentrate to stand up (ow!) plus limping to walk.... And after driving across town for an appointment yesterday--I drive a stick shift with a clutch--I could barely get around. Not cool and a little scary. So I ordered this brace for a quick delivery. It just arrived today and is pretty amazing. The XXL fits my 2x body great--not too tight or loose. Best of all are the sewn-in flexible plastic strips on each side that offer more stability and keep the top from rolling down. Getting out of a chair & walking is much easier. Highly recommend. (I did also order ProFitness Bamboo Fabric Knee Sleeves, which also fit well but roll a bit at the top and should work better for added support while sleeping.)

Excellent Knee Compression Sleeve
Very high quality and perfect fit. Definitely the best compression sleeve among the several I have tried. Just placed my second order.

Two Stars
It buckled behind my knee, didn't care for the fit at all.
