Rather small for the price.

I love solar lights, and I always have at least one in my yard. (I moved recently and culled the old ones that weren't working anymore, but I have a new solar sphere.) So, I just had to get this one--and I love gingko leaves--so I was delighted to find it. It must be hung; since it telescopes, you can't set it on anything. I don't have any tree branches small enough for the hanging hook, and I don't have any plant stands, but I took the metal base of a glass bird bath and turned it upsidedown, and it hangs beautifully. Btw, the on/off switch is on the base. Be sure to switch it to On! It glows all night; at least it was still lit when I took the dog out about 5 am. I enjoy looking at it when I'm outside and from the house. I love it.Update (7-27-17): It hasn't been a month, and my lantern isn't glowing anymore; I checked it out (pushed the switch back and forth a couple times)--and I enjoy seeing it during the day--but I miss seeing it at night. Okaaay. Sometimes it still glows: I've seen it glowing a couple times early in the morning when I take the dog out even when it wasn't glowing at night, but I've seen it glowing at least twice at night (earlier). So, I enjoy it when I see it--lit or unlit.

This lantern is absolutely gorgeous. Although there were no instructions, it is easy to charge. The cylinder lies flat. There is a solar panel on the top. Simply leave in the sun for six hours. The rechargeable battery is included. . The punched steel top has a handle and the base has a band of steel which holds shape. There is an on off button. The light is soft and white providing quite a lovely grow to the garden or deck. The fabric portion has a lovely print in poppy red and white. the fabric is UV and weather resistant.There is a light sensor and it will automatically go off when exposed to bright light. I am impressed that all the parts are replaceable. It measures l0 " x 6" x 6 ".this is a stunning lantern that will provide beauty and light to your garden or outdoor living area.

While I could wish that the light was brighter, and possibly after a full day of sunshine it will be, everything else about this lantern is just lovely. The color is bright and cheerful, it's solid, and looks to be very well made with heavy metal parts supporting a heavyweight fabric printed with ginko leaves. Very graceful looking. It includes an on/off button. Good packaging but not excessive adds to my overall impression of care taken in the manufacturing process.I'd say this is a winner. After a few more days of full sun (It's been quite overcast here.) I'll revisit the strength of the light, but at this point, the lamp does rely on only 2 LEDs, so whether it can be much brighter remains to be seen. Still, it makes an elegant accent in the garden, and that's what counts. It looks lovely in daylight or at night.

This is really easy to setup. Just slide it out of the box and it pops open. There is an on-off switch on the bottom, so just click it on and hang it in the sun. It is also sturdy and durable or it seems like it will be. The LEDs let off a soft glow that is muted by the canvas. So you get the look of a paper lantern in a much longer lasting and durable fashion. There are holes on the top and bottom and a little bit of light shines through them and reflects on the ground, but very muted and not dramatic. If paper lanterns or your thing, you will love this modern take on a traditional lantern.

This is a fun decorative item with some caveats:It is well made and survived today's rain with ease.The light is very soft - solely atmospheric, not useful.The top and bottom metallic sides are perforated with interesting patterns - the bottom perforation makes light pattern on the floor while the top one does nothing because it is not in the path of the light.I would say the best use cases for it are porch/patio/gazebo. The design is not juvenile at all but in the back yard at night it kinda gave me the feeling of a place for lounging and chilling - only with a more sophisticated and adult taste then let's say a porch with bean bags and a lava lampIt will not light up the porch the are but it gives a nice atmosphere.
