Manna Pro Poultry Grit, 5-Pounds

I add this non-degrading, non-absorb ant granite to some of my cactus and succulent potting mixes to increase drainage and prevent root rot. It’s good for smaller pots that won’t be too heavy, and looks so much better than perlite. Also great as a top dressing.

This works well as grit for my 2 hens. I also bought the oyster shells which id was surprise at the look of them as they were round balls and I've only seen oyster shell flakes. :)

I bought this partly because I did not want to keep feeding calcium grit to the roosters, and it works very well for both sexes. The grit size is just right, and the granite is tougher than the oyster shell, so it works very well for them. The girls get both, and are producing great eggs so I think the mixture works well. I feel it is a bit pricey compared to a bag of oyster shell but it lasts well.

I travel occasionally from one rv park to another, and have a hen as a pet. Some places dont have good gravel where she can peck around & consume enough to assist in her digestive process. This packaged grit is perfect for us. I shake some around outside for her & am able to close the bag securely. The bag is sturdy & small, doest take up much room.
