Simple printer, works like a charm
I'm a seasoned printer installer, mostly HP and plenty of Inkjet and LaserJet models over the past 20 years. After reading some of the reviews on Amazon, I saw a trend of "awful software" and "really difficult to install the driver" so was expecting a fight to get this one working on my home network. Not the case. I shall explain......This printer is for my septuagenarian mother-in-law to use at her home 150 miles away, where she has Windows 10, ChromeOS and Android so I needed it to be quick to install and require minimum support from me.Step 1Unpack and remove the transport tapes. Install the paper 'tray' cover and add some paper.Step 2Plug into the mains and press the power button to wake the printer. It will do some simple tests for a few moments.Step 3 (on a mobile running Android)Install the HP Smart app and follow the setup process to create an account, add the printer and send it the wi-fi password. You can now print from Android.Step 4 (on a ChromeOS device)Go to Settings. Search for "Add a printer" and find the new printer at the bottom of the page. Tap on "Save" next to the printer then (optional) tap on "edit" next to it at the page to change the name to something you will recognise later. You can now print from ChromeOS.Step 4 (on a Windows 10 machine)Press the Windows key. Type 'printer' (without the quotes) and press enter to go into the printers and devices settings page. Click '+Add a printer or scanner' and then choose the new printer. Follow the prompts. You can now print from Windows 10.Scanning is a little more complicated but in ChromeOS it's a doddle. Photocopying is a single button on the printer control panel.

Small footprint
Brought to replaced my Dell which was abandoned by them as far as the app is concerned. Wanted a AirPrint as I am now fully committed to Apple ecosystem with its long term product support and convenience .Was surprised how small it is maybe due to it being b/w only, but I realised I hardly printed anything colour on my Dell so it was a no brainer to get this given the price.Others have mentioned toner costs but if like me your a homeowner and occasionally print something then I would suggest it makes no sense getting for office environment. From sleep it prints very quickly.

Good printer, but bad scanner and needs Internet
It prints OK -- and have duplex! , the footprint is surprizingle small, the plastic quality is superb. Works via WiFi, as advertized. The scanner is unbelievably awful lo-res, and the software for it is awfully dumb. Worst scanner in my life, I have found better one near the trashcan in Russia in winter few years ago -- no kidding. And the "Big Brother complex" is annoying: you cannot run Hp setup and scan utility w/o Internet connection and being logged in your account! Which is ridiculos level of intrusion in my life IMO.If you change Wifi, you must look on the Internet how to reset the printer to make it find the new WiFi. The instruction which you find is unnecessary comple -- press this, poke here, wait for that, expect the purple blinking (purple blinking! this thing blinks a rainbow all the time!), etc.Other than that -- good.

Requires constant internet connection and HP app download to work. Can't be setup on linux.
This isn't a printer, it's a certifiable nightmare i wish i'd never bought. Because it's HP+, it stops working after about 15 pages unless you connect it to the internet, register an account with HP via their app. and leave it connected to the internet so HP can constantly monitor it and check you're buying their toner. Included in their terms which you have to agree to if you want it to work is they'll brick it if you use anything other than HP toner.Despite their marketing, while it will print from a linux PC, you can't set it up out of the box using the linux software. After your initial 15 pages of printing, it goes into an error mode until you have registered and "setup" the printer with their online app. I had to borrow an android tablet to "set it up" (which involved creating an account and agreeing to their terms and conditions) after which they remotely activated it again. It also appears to only be able to print 32 pages of a large document at a time, after which is just seems to consider it done and marks the job as complete. This is the last HP product I will ever buy.

Up and running in 15 minutes
Unpacked from the box. Came complete with a UK and an EU plug. (Seems like this would be an easy win for reducing waste, by simply packing boxes with only the plug for the country of sale.)Plugged in, switched on, followed the steps from my existing HPSmart app, pressed the WiFi button on my router and the printer, continued to follow the steps from HPSmart. Signed up to the free 6 month Instant Ink trial and received a message that my next cartridge was being dispatched immediately. The whole process took about 15 minutes. I've printed a few things for school and so far, I can't fault it.For an extra free month of Instant Ink, feel free to use the code nf9f5p.

Not as good as my twenty year old laser jet
Nice neat printerRelatively easy to usePrint quality is a bit smudgy looking in comparison to my 20 year old laser jet which was crispIt’s a bit finickySupport is goodNot overly impressed, every time I print a large document I get an email to upgrade my print contract.I wish I hadn’t purchased it really I would rather a printer I can just purchase my own ink and get on with it
