The Manyo Factory Our Vegan Heartleaf CICA Toner comes in a generous 13.5oz plastic pour-spout cap plastic bottle for $25 as of this writing. Simple, sort list of ingredients (subject to change, formula as of this review). I wish more skincare/cosmetic companies would do this, but I've included what some of them are in paratheses below (laymen/common names to their chemical counterpart):Water, Houttuynia Cordata Extract (5% - heartleaf), Butylene Glycol, Glycereth-26, Glycerin, Centella Asiatica Extract (CICA, plant with antibacterial, anti-inflammatory compounds), Bambusa Vulgaris (bamboo) Water, Chamaecyparis Obtusa (Japanese cypress) Water, Betula Platyphylla Japonica (Japanese white birch) Juice, Allantoin (exfoliant), 1,2-Hexanediol, Hydroxyacetophenone (synthetic antioxidant, skin conditioner, preservative), Hexylene Glycol (surfactant, skin moisturizer), Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Polyglyceryl-10 Myristate, Malt Extract, Arginine (amino acid), Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate (licorice, anti-inflammatory), Disodium EDTA (chelating agent/preservative).This slightly yellow, otherwise transparent watery toner has a mild earthy scent I assume from the Houttuynia Cordata Extract and various plant extracts. The Houttuynia cordata is a flowering plant known to have a rich source of polyphenolic flavanoids (with antibacterial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties). This also has Centella Asiatica (the CICA) and Allantoin (hydration + mild exfoliant). Ideally, you don't want to mix Allantoin with other AHAs and BHAs (exfoliants), but you do your research and see what you are using in your routines. You don't want to over-exfoliate, create irritation, or compromised your moisture barrier.This is not super hydrating nor is it drying. Very simple and plain, non-irritating. Hasn't caused any flares, rashes, patchiness, or new breakouts on my mature, sensitive, combination, congestion-prone skin. Can be used AM and PM daily; applied with either your hands or a cotton round. I like the use and quality and am pleased with the general formulation for the price point. Gentle enough that it is likely suitable for all users. But I still urge those who use other exfoliants and who have sensitive skin, to patch test this before mainstream use.

I'd never heard of any sort of "fermented" toner, but I guess it makes sense as some people will use (diluted) AC vinegar, which is also fermented, on their faces. I tried this on a small portion of my face first, in case it triggered some weird allergic reaction (it didn't). Once I felt it was safe for me to use, I found it very pleasant, somewhat calming and cooling even for several minutes after applying it.The bottle top has a small hole inside that keeps it from spilling out too quickly, which is helpful to me so as not to waste it. My skin felt quite lovely, smooth and softer than normal for some time after application. My skin is currently acting incredibly crazy which is why I was interested in trying this. Although I'm going through menopause and Hashimoto's, my skin seems to think now's the time to start breaking out with blemishes full time, tiny white heads and blackheads as well.I like that this doesn't strip my skin or leave it feeling over-dried or over-moisturized, as I'm looking for more balanced skin. It just helps it to feel cooler, gently hydrated and more youthful-feeling. There is no unpleasant scent to this, and it does feel altogether gentle. I was worried that this might trigger new hives or some new skin condition, but so far it's been great. I look forward to when I use this and it feels like a bit of self-pampering, which maybe my skin could use more of right now. Thanks for reading.

This is an interesting toner because it's so runny and thin, it feels just like water. I'm not sure if that's part of their vegan deal but I personally didn't find this hydrating or refreshing. It was just like rubbing water on my face with a cotton pad. It didn't harm my skin, it isn't drying, it didn't give me a reaction. It just didn't do anything for me. I would probably not order this again or recommend it because of the price.
