The Last Hen Saddle you will ever have to buy!
This hen saddle is feathers down the highest quality and best functioning I have used in 4 decades of keeping birds. The cost is WELL WORTH IT because you will buy it once and use them forever. As you can see from the photo, my girls were getting pretty beat up, I bought some cheaper alternatives and after a couple of days they ended up torn up, in the dirt all over the yard. Then I found these! The photo above shows the new feather growth coming back in after ONE WEEK! The ladies don't mind them at all, the wing covers are AWESOME! They really are exceptional at protecting their wings, stay on and don't impede self grooming or dust bathing.I really can't say enough good things about this product or company.I ordered one 4 pack to try them out and then came back to order two more 4 packs. Most of my hens are larger but my Cream Legbar in the photo with the pink saddle is barely bigger than a bantam and she is wearing the same size saddle with the strap on the smaller setting, fits perfectly and she is completely unbothered by it.If I could give this product more stars I would.

My hens lose more feathers with these on
Update…. I didn't take into consideration that my chickens were starting to molt. These saddles work awesome and as advertised. I would recommend these saddles.Original Review……I just went out to change out the saddles on my hens for some clean ones and they look worse than they did when I put them on. Most of the back feathers are gone. I thought these were used to help them regrow feathers not lose them.

My hen is no longer in pain and the roo is happy as a lark!
My hen was in dire need of help. As the favorite of the roo's, he was wearing her out. She was beginning to become distressed, and no matter what we applied to her, the skin where the feathers had been pulled out by the roo's handling was becoming more and more inflamed. I came across this in web searching, and I love this product. As for her size she is a Barred Rock. The product come in two size fittings. She is on the larger fitting. She acts like she doesn't even know it is on her. I highly recommend it.

these are really worth it!
My frizzled girls were really taking a beating where their feathers are more fragile. I sew and kept thinking I would get around to making my own aprons, but I'm so glad I purchased these instead. They are a thick canvas type of material, the size is easily adjustable, and the snaps are extra secure. My hens adjusted to their new clothes very quickly without incident. The only issue I have is where the canvas is so thick, it seems my roo has now starting grabbing the girls by their hairdo plume :-( I haven't tried the wing covers because I wanted my hens to get used to the apron first, but I will try that next. They seem extra durable as well!

Protected my hens and added much needed comedy
My roo doesn't harm his ladies but his constant attention leaves some of them with bald backs. So I decided to try chicken saddles. I placed a saddle on the most loved hen, she adjusted to it quickly(about 5 minutes) and i put her back with the flock. And that's when the shit hit the fan, seeing Betsy in her saddle left the rest of the chickens terrified of the alien creature placed in their mist. So they ran, they jumped to the highest perch in the run in an attempt to escape her, they squacked in fear and alarm. Betsy had no idea that she was the source of this drama and being a flock animal she panicked because they were panicked. She followed them to escape the threat causing them to panic more and run from her like she was the grim reaper himself. I'm not ashamed to admit that I laughed so hard I peed myself a little. Good news is that it only took the flock 5 hours to accept Betsy in her new duds and gave her a break from my roos constant attention. Will buy again if I need more.

Really helps!
Sometime the boys get a little rough on their favorite girls so these are great for helping them out. Once you catch your hen they are easy to put on and remove. They get used to it quickly and just go about business as usual.

Great quality
I needed a saddle because my one hen was bare on her back and her wings were broken from the rooster mating her. I bought an off brand saddle, and it was made very cheaply. I returned it and bought a single saddle from down under, and the quality was wayyy better. Sadly my hen was getting bullied since she was the only one wearing the saddle, so I bought the 4 pack. They take a bit to get used to the saddles, but after a bit forget they're wearing them. Highly recommend for price, quality, and value.

Does the job
Fits both my Banty hens and orphingtons. But the Jean material is super rough and can be hard on the fragile new feathers trying to grow. It’s good to stop feather pluckers but as far as helping them grow back. No.
