Great book for kids and adults with awesome pictures.
I really enjoyed this book about Freddie Mercury and Queen. The story was told in a way that children would enjoy, but was full of actual facts about Freddie and Queen. The combination of the story with the great illustrations made Freddie come to life. The most important part of this story is the amazing talent that Freddie and Queen shared with the world. The joy that their music brought to so many people and still does. This should inspire parents and kids alike. The book also brought to light so many interesting topics - special gifts, extra teeth, different ways children get educated, immigration to a safe country. Parents can discuss any of these topics with their children or just answer questions that their children might have. The book covers that Freddie once had a girlfriend and then met Jim, who was his boyfriend. The books covers that Freddie had AIDS and eventually got so sick he could not perform and eventually died..The information at the end showing real life photographs of Freddie and the band are so fun for adults and children. It would be great if anyone reading this book to a child would play them a Queen song that they might enjoy after they read them the book. Then they can discuss how the legacy of a person can live on after they are gone from this world.

Great Addition to the Series
I really like this series of books because they condense everything but it is packed with information. Freddie Mercury aka Farrokh Bulsara. I did not realize all the things that lead to the band called Queen. Bohemian Rapsody is one of my favorite songs. Bmeing a cat lover and finding he had 10 cats was a plus Unfortunately his untimely death took a very talented muscian and nice person. The illustrations are very well done and pleasing to look at. This book will be sure to hold a child interest.

For the grade school Freddie Mercury fan
Adorably illustrated children's book improbably focused on the life of 70s/80s rock star Freddie Mercury. The book is part of the larger "Little People, BIG DREAMS" series of biographies written for children. The series is eclectic in its selection of people: prior entries include Mother Teresa, David Attenborough, Mindy Kaling, and Greta Thunberg. There's a slight bent towards women and people of color, but if you've got an inspiring story you're a candidate for their series. The book focuses primarily on Freddie's childhood and music career but also on his AIDS diagnosis and death. This may be unusual subject matter for a children's book, but the material is dealt with matter-of-factly in an age-appropriate manner. There is a similarly matter-of-fact discussion of Mercury's sexuality, in context of his long term relationship with Jim Hutton. But the real prize here is the illustrations. The art style is very simplistic but captures the essence of its subject. With deceptively broad strokes the illustrator captures Freddie's characteristic overbite and stage persona perfectly. And the depiction of Brian May is weirdly perfect. All in all a great little non-fiction book. I'm not sure how many grade schoolers out there like Queen, but if you know one or are one you'll enjoy this a lot.

Anothe excellent addition to this collection!
Yet another excellent addition to the Little People, Big Dreams series. I was interested to see how the book would cover some of the more "taboo" topics that surround Freddie and make it age appropriate for little ones but I was impressed how simply put his personal relationships, true love with Jim and even his AIDS diagnosis was handled. While these were certainly not the focus, they are an important part of Freddie's story and they prompt great conversations with your little ones. As always, this book features bright and vibrant illustrations, little personal facts that I was even surprised to learn, and I believe it told his life story really well. Having had the opportunity to interview one of Freddie's closest friends about 9 years ago, I am always eager to see his talent shared and I love that this rock legend will continue to live on, in the minds of our tiny ones.

Engaging Biography for Children
Freddie Mercury's profile in popular culture has increased in recent years, due largely to the movie based on his life and the enduring popularity of Queen's music. This book is an excellent introduction to Freddie's life and career and will be inspiring to readers who enjoy music. The book discusses his life and music in a way accessible to young readers. The illustrations are colorful and quirky, if you know the Little People, Big Dreams series this is another firm entry in that group of books. The book is straightforward and age appropriate in its discussion of Freddie's personal life and his death with Aids. If this is a sensative subject for parents or young readers, please be aware that it is there, but I feel it is handled in an age appropriate fashion. All around, another good entry in the series and one that will appeal to young readers with a love of popular music.

Adorable, simple biography!
Physically, this book is very well made. It’s a strong, hardcover with thick, matte pages. The book is aimed at children, but even adults can find charm in this book. I personally own the David Bowie book as well as I love the covers and display of these books. The story does cover Freddie’s personal life. I’m glad they didn’t gloss over that :) There’s even mention of his 10 cats!At the end of the book, like all of this author’s books, there’s a detailed biography. That part will be more useful for older children and adults. If you want to introduce a child to someone in history, or read a charming version for yourself, consider this book and/or many of the other books written by this author! I give this 5 stars. It’s well done and easy to follow for a variety of ages.

Awesome book
We've been really enjoying this series of books, and I was excited for a Freddie Mercury book as I'm a big Queen fan. I think this was interesting, with cool illustrations, although it may have glossed over his queer identity a little. I understand that some families may not be comfortable with that and why it wasn't included, but at the same time more explicit representation would be good to see.
