4" 10cm Cross Stitch Embroidery Wooden Hoop Craft

I don't normally write reviews but this is just so awful I feel I have to warn people. The hoop is very badly made with laminates splitting and splinters. It had a big chunk missing from the inner ring - not good when you are working with delicate aida material. And as for the nut / bolt tightening - what's that all about? I couldn't turn the screw at all, it was so fiddly. Didn't even get a return address to enable me to send this "item" back. If I stop one person from buying this, then this review will be worthwhile. Total con - this went straight in the bin :-(

I ordered this with plans to give it to my sister for Christmas as part of a set of decorative embroidery hoops that I had embroidered for her to display on her wall. I really don't think this hoop will be of any use for this project/present. The wood is not finished and has various dark marks on it. The actual screw looks almost industrial, it is long and unsightly, and would look horrendous displayed on someone's wall. The nut on the screw is bent so the screw just keeps clicking round but will not actually unscrew/screw fully. I am thoroughly disappointed with this product. The product photo is also not the hoop you actually get sent, which is just ridiculous. It's not even worth returning it, I'll probably use it as kindling for my fire.

I brought this for my 7 year old daughter to use on a cross stitch project she's started as I forgot to pick one up from the major chain store where I got the other bits, so had to hastily ordered this online as I knew it would be a while before I could get to shops again. It turned up really quickly, which was great, but the product itself was not like the one from the shops or in the picture. It is very obviously hand made and was finished really badly with rough edges/insides. If it wasn't for how cheap it was and the hassle, I'd have returned it as it was completely unsafe for her to use because of the splinter risk and would catch on the aida. Luckily I had some sandpaper, so was able to smooth it all off myself.

The hoop is made of laminated strips which have not been sanded so it pulls threads in the fabric. The latch is not as the picture with a thumb screw, it is a screw and square bolt, which again damages the fabric and thread. Other hoops I have used and what the picture shows are smooth rounded edged rings, this hoop most definitely isn't smooth. I have had to purchase another hoop from a reputable supplier. Only gave it one star as Amazon don't allow zero stars!. I will upload an image to show the actual hoop you will get.

This hoop is okay for the odd bit of embroidery. However, the wood is rough and it's not a true circle. You have to juggle to find the right place to enable the other part to fit on. I only got it because I had to embroider a small flag for my grand-daughter for school. If you do a lot of embroidery I suggest you pay more to get a better quality one.

Roughly made of laminated wood with the layers splitting. Sharp edge that stresses and catches the fabric & threads. Bolt for tightening relies on a washer/nut and is fiddly to use. I wanted this to use to make cross stitch inserts for cards - not sure that it will be useable for that. It isn't quite circular so only fits together one way. Doesn't look at all like the picture of the product in terms of quality of the finished product.

What horrible looking embroidery hoop, looks more like an implement of torture! Finishing is shabby, rough edges,nut and screw are too big for such a small hoop, definitely NOT lovingly crafted. The actual wooden hoop looks as though it has been made from low grade wood (if there is such a thing). Will not buy from these suppliers again; hoop in picture looks nothing like the one I received.

The inner and outer hoop cannot not fit tightly together as the screw is wrong. I need to tight it with hair band. Not really working. Maybe I got a faulty one.
