The Loar
Love it. It's beautifully made the sound is so much nicer than A style Rouge. We consulted a professional musician, who just happens to be my husbands cousin, what he thought about The Loar Mando before we made the purchase. He has one also, said it was one of his favorites and was a good instrument for someone with small hands. Very happy my husband got this for me. Kudos to the Loar folks for a superb Mandoline.Respectfully Terry Hubbard aka Tonys' wife

It’s gLOARious!! **slaps knee and laughs too hard at own joke**
Granted, I don’t have much to compare it to other than the the few cheaper mandolins I’ve had in the past, but I can def say I’m in love with this instrument! It’s amazing for the price! It’s miles beyond anything else I’ve ever had in tone/action/sustain alone. Not to mention looks! I bought a fishman pickup for it, and was a little disappointed at first. The curve of the fishman saddle was a little off, so it wasn’t making a lot of contact and the mandolin sounded super tinny. But with a little modification I was able to marry the original saddle with the fishman bridge and as soon as it got the contact it. I’m working on shaping the fishman saddle to hug the loar body correctly and I’m excited to hear the difference it’s gonna make. The craftsmanship is much better than I expected for the price. It took a less setup than expected with any new instrument.

Very pleased, though I don't know what I'm talking about.
The media could not be loaded. I'm a fiddle player picking up a mando for the first time so take this all with a grain of salt. I was pleasantly surprised for the value for the cost. It seems a nice, solid instrument with no viable defects that I could find. The tone is beautiful out of this thing. I was expecting a "beginner quality" tone (eg. tinny, not very resonate) but it has a nice rich quality. It was fairly easy to tune, though the pegs can be quite stiff at some points. I ordered new strings separately, and I'm glad I did as the only real drawback I can see on the instrument as it came are the factory installed strings which look a little janky.

Excellent beginner’s Mandolin
It was packed well with no damage. The instrument is well built and has a good tone. Easy for someone new to playing the Mandolin to chord.

Very nice for the price if you get a good one
Very nice mandolin for the money. The sound is middle of the road. My Rover that was half the cost sounds much better. There is not much bass and the high end is a little tinny. It plays excellent. The quality control seems to be bad because mine came with noticeable imperfections on the neck joint that could lead to joint failure in the future. The strap button hole is too big the button won't stay in. I am sending it back. Nice mandolin for the money if you get a good one.

Excellent Mandolin!
Love this mandolin! I’m a beginner on the mandolin (I’m an experienced guitar player), and I had played on a couple others before buying this one. I had even bought and returned a cheaper instrument that had terrible tone and could not stay tuned. This mandolin has great tone and just feels beautiful to the touch. It’s so much fun to play.I would recommend this for beginners, but I expect to be able to play this for many years.

Octave fret way sharp
The media could not be loaded. Frets are out of tune. Octave fret almost a half step sharp. Played the harmonics and open string against it for reference. Am I doing something wrong? Big sad face.

Perfect upgrade and excellent sound
The Loar brand was recommended to me by a local luthier after looking at my old A style mando and determining the neck was not fixable. I had gotten a really cheap A style on Amazon and it was ok, but I am really pleased by how well this one sounds. I'd consider this to be a stage two mando after getting a crazy cheap one, playing it for a while and determining if you will stick with it. This also means you will truly appreciate the difference between a $100 mando and this one. Worth the step up.
