Good product, but won't work for Cats
The fence was pretty easy to put together. One reviewer suggested getting a foam pipe insulation and cut to fit the top to protect the ceiling liner, which I did. Fit the car well. Unfortunately, I wanted it for 2 traveling cats. The small gaps along the side of the fence were just enough for them to squeeze through. So if you want this for your dog, great! But don't bother if you're trying it for a cat. :-)

Great dog barrier...with a little tweaking needed
I read all the reviews before purchasing this product. I'd like to give you my impression of the item....We've got a Ford Escape and this fits perfectly in the back of the car to stop our black lab from climbing over the back seat and also keeps him from chewing on my seatbelts in the back (he ruined both the passenger side and driver side shoulder harnesses on the back seatbelts before we bought this).However....when we first installed it, we put it perfectly vertical and that narrowed the space in the back cargo area due to the back seats being at an angle. When it was vertical, it also rattled like one of the other reviewers commented about. So, we changed it to be angled with the back seat and now our dog has more room to lie down and also it no longer rattles. :)It did get loose once when we were driving down a dirt road and it fell on our dog. We realized even though we thought the barrier was in nice and tight, we had to tighten it even more.Lastly, the biggest problem is that some of the corners on the barrier are sharp...VERY sharp. Even the lock nuts and butterfly screws have sharp edges. This was obvious once our dog cut his nose on one and bled all over the car. We rectified that by using a grinder to smooth the edges and we glued some rubber on the ends just to ensure they were safe. All in all, great product for the price. Just wish they'd ensure the edges weren't sharp as this is to be used for a living animal that can hurt itself.

New and Improved
I read many reviews on this barrier before ordering. A common complaint was the hardware was cheap, no washers, wingnuts and bolts didn't thread correctly, and the mesh panels rattled against each other. All fixable with zip ties. I think the manufacturer must have taken a queue from these reviews because I found the hardware to be quite adequate, there are washers, and they now include a couple of small rubber bumpers to prevent rattling. There was one bolt missing so QC may still be wanting just a little, but I put the thing together in like 30 minutes and it seems great. I am going to add pipe insulation along the top for added protection for my vehicle upholstery, but it fits great in my 2016 Ford Edge, and I think it will do the job. I will update my review once I've had a chance to drive around with my dogs.Update: It rattles. I will be using some zip ties on it....but it keeps my Pit Bull, Shih Tzu, and Chihuahua where I want them :)

Wire Mesh Barrier--- Better than most
When our Boxer puppy gnawed on the dashboard ($$$) and steering wheel of our Mercedes 350 GLK I knew I had to do something and quickly.Amazon has a good selection of pet barriers. They fall into basically 5 categories: tubular floor to ceiling, tubular side to side mount, cloth mesh, mount on headrest, and wire mesh. I ruled out the tubular floor to ceiling type because the puppy could easily get through it, and the tubular side to side type because there was no convenient place to mount it. The mesh would be chewed through in a minute. The mount on headrest type would leave the back of the seats available to be chewed and that left only the wire mesh type which I ordered. It came promptly but was evidently dropped in shipment. The box was crushed on the corner, the plastic shipping ties were all broken, the mesh was bent in a couple of places and a weld or 2 were broken. Fortunately none of this was structural and was quickly straightened. I thought this would be less hassle than returning it for replacement. My application required placement behind the front seat because we have 3 dogs and need the entire back area plus access to the rear doors to load dogs. I had to re-engineer the mounting and purchased new 1/2 inch x 3 foot threaded rod so that the unit could stand on the floor and reach to the ceiling and still be stable. The rod that comes with it is non-standard size and so poorly machined that the included wing nuts turn only with difficulty. I also used HVAC ties to secure the unit to the front headrests (the mesh keeps teeth off the back of the seats). I purchased the extension mesh and it fits quite well between the seats. A little duct tape keeps everything from rattling. It is very stable and quiet.Overall, a good solution for dogs that like to chew! I recommend it, and it is probably better than most, but gave it only 3 stars because of the rough shipping treatment and the poor quality hardware that came with it.

Perfect for my needs.
I bought a brand new Jeep Wrangler 2-door (2023) and removed the rear seat. Then I attached the barrier to the roll bar as shown in the photo, using two camera straps. One end of each is rolled and bundled using a zip tie. The other ends use a snap fastener. The strap lengths are adjustable. The whole barrier is stabilized by fitting the threaded rods into a 2x2 piece of fir on the floor. All very dog proof.
