Just had foot surgery and my doctor recommended a knee scooter
Just had foot surgery and my doctor recommended a knee scooter. In my area rentals are quite expensive, so this was a perfect compromise. It's very basic but definitely does the job. It's well made and sturdy. It required very little assembly and, if I use it for two months, will end up being less expensive than a two month rental. I'm very happy with this purchase

Got some freedom back. Nice
Beautiful well made scooter. Well worth pric e. Gets me around house quickly. Feels safe and stableStay on hard surfaces to be safe. Brake works fine but you have to have weight on it. Assembled in 2 minutes.

A breeze to use, with caution.
The scooter was delivered in two days - a plus for Amazon. The scooter is sturdy and well built, easily adjustable, a breeze to use indoors. It can be used outdoors with extra caution simply because of sloping grades and different surface textures - definitely NOT recommended on grass or other soft surfaces. I strongly recommend the lambswool cover (extra) because the basic cushion is a tad slipery and could cause injury to a patient if the knee slips off the seat. Overall, it met my expectations, however, I downgraded the scooter one star because of its tendency to tip over if the steering is turned too sharply. Little stability is provide by the rear wheels that are only about 6" apart. The front wheels are about 18" wide for better stability, but when turned sharply so the front axel nearly parallels the frame, there is no lateral stability and a surgical patient may not have proper balance or self stability to avoid falling on top of the scooter. With caution, the scooter is very functional and beneficial.

Just buy it; ultimately cheaper than renting.
Was well worth the price. With the prime shipping my daughter had this in days. This is the best alternative to crutches. I rented one when I had my achilles tendon surgery and wished I had just bought one instead. My daughter shattered her ankle and used this for about two months. When she did not need it anymore, I was able to re-sell it on craigslist and recoup most of my money. The scooter held up very well and barely looked used, even though she used it on gravel and other rough terrain. The only negative comment I can make is that the "seat" is a bit firm. I bought a small pillow and strapped it to the "seat" to cushion under her knee somewhat. Someone who used this a bit less, or on smoother surfaces might not have this issue.

Caution-follow directions, cover your nose.
Easy assembly, even with a broken ankle. DON'T FORGET TO TIGHTEN THE BOLT UNDER THE HANDLEBARS BY THE WHEELS. If you do not, the wheels turn beyond the point of stability and you will fall down. Trust me. Not pleasant on a hard kitchen floor with your wife watching, laughing. It's also worth mentioning that this one gives off a horible rubber smell. Almost like you just strapped a new Goodyear radial around your neck.

Totally unstable...
Poor scooter. My son(17) had foot surgery and fell at school, three times. School nurse witnessed one of the falls ... The other two recorded by school video tapes. One wheels does not touch the ground. There was no misuse. He missed two and a half days of school besides the additional pain, an emergency doctors visit being afraid of possible movement\of screws inserted in foot.Got him a better solid scooter, that does the expected job and provides me peace of mind.DO NOT BUY for your kids. If you are an adult and want to take a chance... butdont expose your children.

This worked great for my wife's foot surgery
This worked great for my wife's foot surgery. We bought it cause we knew she needed the other one later and this was cheaper than renting one. So I still have it ready for the other foot this summer. Good quality. Don't rent, buy this!

Unstable: Axel rotates 360 degrees, scooter falls
The knob that is supposed to prevent axel from overturning does not do the job. ( knob #4 on the assembly chart that comes with the device). The knob must be fastened tightly to prevent the turning, but it only pushes against the metal pipe and creates a grove, so axel keeps rotating 360 degree and the scooter falls. This seems to be a faulty design. I thought I was assembling it wrong, so we took it to a mechanic, and he explained why it cannot do the job : faulty design. The scooter is unstable and falls on its side. I was very careful and it still folded from underneath of me, I fell on the sidewalk, reinjured my ankle, hurt my knee and my wrist. Really really unsafe! Ended up returning it and getting a different, more reliable scooter.
